INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Old Dominion will once again serve as host for the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament as the First and Second Rounds of the tournament will be played at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in 2008. The Division I Women's Basketball Committee released the first- and second-round and regional sites for the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championships on Wednesday.
"The continued opportunity to host NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament games is a credit Old Dominion University's commitment to women's basketball," said Old Dominion Athletic Director, Dr. Jim Jarrett. "From the state of the art Ted Constant Convocation Center to the quality athletic and Constant Center staff and our nationally recognized Lady Monarch basketball program, the NCAA recognized an opportunity to utilize our outstanding tournament venue."
The 2008 tournament will mark the fourth time the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament has been showcased at the Ted Constant Convocation Center since the building opened in 2002. Old Dominion hosted the First and Second Rounds in 2003 as well as the 2004 Mideast Regional and will once again host the First and Second Rounds in 2006, now featuring eight teams.
The following first- and second-round sites will host games either Saturday, March 17 and Monday, March 19 or Sunday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 20, 2007:
