Monarchs Advance In CAA With School Record 26th Win

RICHMOND, VA-- Old Dominion (26-5) defeated rival William and Mary, 64-51in the quarterfinal round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.ODU will play Hofstra in Sunday's semi-final game at 3 p.m.

26 wins in a season is a new ODU school record, breaking the old mark which was done four times, the last being in 1998-99.

Isaiah Hunter led the Monarchs with 15 points, while Alex Loughton scored13 points and hauled in ten boards. Loughton now has 11 double-doubles this year. Sophomore point guard Drew Williamson scored 11 points and dished out four assists and had four steals.

With the score tied at ten (13:02 mark), ODU went on a 27-10 run to takea 37-20 halftime lead. ODU's biggest lead of the game was 21, 49-28 with14:49 remaining.

No player on William and Mary's team scored in double figures. FreshmanNatan Mann and sophomore Corey Cofield each had nine. ODU's defenseforced the Tribe into 18 turnovers and .358 shooting.

The Monarchs have now held opponents to less than 40 percent shooting16 times this year.

John Morris, Brandon Johnson and Valdas Vasylius each scored five pointsoff the bench. Sam Harris hauled in five rebounds.

ODU and Hofstra split games this season. ODU defeated the Pride inNew York, 67-66, but Hofstra came back to hand the Monarchs their onlyhome loss in 15 games, 66-63.
