HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Valdas Vasylius scored 16 points to lead Old Dominion over James Madison 82-60 Saturday night.
The Monarchs (25-5, 15-3 Colonial Athletic Association) took charge early in the first half with a 15-0 run to lead 41-22 at the break. Old Dominion led by as many as 31 points in the second half.
The 25 wins ties a school record for one season set four different times.ODU was 25-4 in 1977, 25-6 in 1975, 25-5 in 1980, and 25-9 in the 1999.
ODU committed only seven turnovers which is the sixth time they haveturned the ball over less than ten times.
The Dukes (6-21, 3-15) were led by Cavell Johnson with 16 points. Ray Barbosa added 12, including three 3-pointers in the closing minutes of the game. David Cooper had 10 rebounds.
Old Dominion outshot James Madison 55.4 percent to 37.7 percent.
Isaiah Hunter had 15 points for the Monarchs. Alex Loughton and Drew Williamson each scored 10 points.
Brandon Johnson came up with five steals and joined Williamson withsix assists on the night. Arnaud Dahi led ODU with seven rebounds followedby Drew Williamson with six.
The Monarchs open the CAA Tournament as the number one seed for thefirst time since 1997. ODU will play on Saturday at 12 noon againstthe winner of the number eight and nine seed.
