Monarchs Extend Winning Streak To Four With 56-49 Win

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Alex Loughton scored 10 points to lead a balanced attack as Old Dominion won its fourth straight, 56-49 over Delaware on Wednesday night.

Four other players scored seven or more points for the Monarchs (22-3, 12-1 Colonial Athletic Association), who have won 11 of 12. Kiah Thomas scored nine points, Valdas Vasylius had eight, and Isaiah Hunter and Brian Henderson scored seven each.

Arnaud Dahi added six points and 10 rebounds for the Monarchs, who capitalized on 25 Delaware turnovers. Old Dominion won despite shooting 35.6 percent from the field and hitting just 3-of-18 3-point attempts. Freshman Brandon Johnson led ODU withsix steals and Valdas Vasylius had four. ODU has held opponents to lessthan 40 percent shooting 14 times this year.

Mike Slattery scored 14 points, and Harding Nana had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Hens (9-15, 6-7), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Old Dominion led 32-27 at halftime and built a 52-38 lead with 7:28 remaining. Delaware went on an 11-2 run over the next 5:54, but the Blue Hens missed their final four field goal attempts.

Delaware shot 37.7 percent from the field.
