PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Arnaud Dahi hit a short jump shot with 10 secondsremaining to lift Old Dominion to a 60-59 victory over Drexel on Wednesdaynight.
Dahi scored 18 points for the Monarchs (12-2, 2-0 Colonial AthleticAssociation), who won despite scoring only 19 points in the second half, whichfeatured a five-minute period in which neither team scored.
The Dragons (4-6, 0-2) battled back from a 17-point deficit with the aid of11 points off the bench by Dominick Mejia, who hit three 3-pointers in thesecond half. Bashir Mason hit a pair of free throws to put the Dragons up byone with only 36 seconds to go.
Old Dominion used a 23-5 run capped by a Valdis Vasylius layup with 16:19remaining in the game to take a 49-32 lead. The Dragons whittled away the leadwith a 24-7 run of their own to tie the game 56-56 with 6:30 left.
The Monarchs regained the lead with 6:09 remaining on a Dahi layup, butneither team scored again until Drexel's Chaz Crawford hit a free throw with1:26 left.
Isaiah Hunter added 13 points for Old Dominion. Drew Williamson led ODU with five assists and three steals,while Dahi blocked three shots and hauled in six rebounds. Alex Loughtonadded eight first half points and led with seven rebounds.
Phil Goss scored a team-high 13 points for Drexel.DominickMejia came off the bench to scored 11, all in the second half.
ODU shot .415 (22-53) from the field (7-24 for .292) in the secondhalf. Drexel shot .385 for the game, .346 in the second half. Bothteams committed only ten turnovers, and ODU came up with eight steals.
The Monarchs return to action Saturday night when they host JamesMadison in a CAA contest at 7 p.m.
