NORFOLK, Va. -- Junior defender Janelle Engle (Mt. Joy, Pa.) and sophomore midfielder Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) were name First Team All-South Region while senior Lynn Farquhar (Alexandria, Va.) earned Second Team All-South Region honors it was announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA). All three Lady Monarchs earned All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) accolades earlier this month.

Sensenig led Old Dominion in points (43), assists (13), and goals (15). She topped the CAA charts in assists per game (0.62 ) and ended the season ranked second in goals per game (0.71) and points per game (2.05). The second-year midfielder tallied three game-winners, which included conference rival Towson and James Madison along with an overtime goal against #4 Maryland. A two-time CAA Player of the Week award winner, Sensenig was also a vital member of the penalty corner unit on both the offensive and defensive ends.

Engle finished the 2004 campaign second on the Lady Monarch squad in points (21) having tallied 10 goals and assist. She ranked eighth in the league in goals per game (0.48). Like Sensenig, Engle notched three game-winners, which included Drexel, Virginia Commonwealth, and Princeton. The Mt. Joy, Pa. native had four multiple goal games and racked up a career-high five points in Old Dominion's 6-3 victory over #20 Hofstra. Defensively, Engle helped the Lady Monarchs to shutouts over #12 Richmond and Drexel.

Farquhar finished her final year with the Lady Monarchs with two goals, seven assists, and 11 points. She had a two-goal effort in ODU's 9-2 victory over conference rival Virginia Commonwealth and recorded two assists in wins over #20 Hofstra, Drexel, and Princeton. A three-time NFHCA Academic All-American, Farquhar was named Second Team All-CAA earlier this month.

The Old Dominion field hockey team concluded its 2004 season 13-8 overall and made its 24th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the only school to participate in every single NCAA Tournament since 1981. The Lady Monarchs were ranked 12th in the final STX/NFHCA Coaches' Poll.
