NORFOLK, VA -The Old Dominion men's soccer team won their second straight game Sunday afternoon, defeating the Hofstra Pride 2-0 at the ODU Soccer Stadium. Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) and Ross Mackenzie (Richmond, VA) scored goals for the Monarchs, while John Connelly (Rockville, MD) recorded his fifth shutout of the season. ODU improves to 7-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Hofstra drops to 4-6-1 and 0-1-1 in the CAA.
Brian Cvilikas got the Monarchs on the board in the 37th minute, connecting off a A.J. Kulp (Ephrata, PA) assist. Ross Mackenzie extended the ODU lead in the 69th minute of play, kicking the ball from just inside midfield.
For the game, ODU out-shot Hofstra 13-8 and had a 6-4 edge on corner kicks. John Connelly recorded his fifth shutout of the season, making one save.
The Monarchs will be on the road next weekend, taking on Towson Friday, October 15, at 3:00, and Delaware Saturday night at 7:00.
