WILLIAMSBURG, VA--Junior Laura Beeman connected on a penaltykick in the seventh minute of the first overtime to give the Lady Monarchs ofOld Dominion (6-4-2/3-1-1 CAA) a 2-1 victory over William and Mary. It wasthe Lady Monarchs first ever win over the Tribe in 12 matches. W&M is 5-4-4(2-1-2in the CAA.

After a scoreless first half, W&M took a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute. JuniorTaline Tahmassian hit the net on an assist from Katie Hogwood. With about15 minutes remaining, ODU tied the match as Lisa McKenzie (Inverness, Scotland) sent a through ball to Heather Vaughan (Va. Beach, Va.-Princess Anne HS) into the right corner of the 18-foot box, and after a dribble, she fired home a shot into the lower left corner.

With a little more than four minutes left in the first extra period, Beemantook a pass outside the center of the box and streaked towards the goal, but wasfouled just inside the box, setting up the game winning goal.

ODU returns to action on Oct. 15 when they travel to Blacksburg to takeOn Virginia Tech.
