After a scoreless first half, Hartwick's Edwin Ruiz got the Hawks on the board, at the 66:55 mark of the game.  Ruiz got behind goalkeeper John Connelly (Rockville, MD) and dribbled the ball in for the goal.  That would be the only goal of the game as the Monarchs suffer their first loss of the 2004 season.

For the game, ODU had a 21-12 shots advantage and a 7-4 corner kicks edge.  John Connelly had three saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes of action.  Sophomore Forward Edson Elcock (Brooklyn, NY) took five shots on goal Sunday for ODU.

The Monarchs return to action next weekend, when they travel to UNC-Wilmington on Friday, October 1, and travel to Virginia Commonwealth Sunday, October 3, to open up Colonial Athletic Association play.
