LYNCHBURG, VA-- Sophomore pitcher Jason Godin (Stafford, VA.) scattered eight hits withno walks and two strikeouts as ODU pounded out 16 hits in a 12-2 non-conference victoryover Liberty. ODU has now won six straight and seven of their last eight games.
The Monarchs are now 21-24 overall, while Liberty of the Big South Conference dropsto 20-26.
Godin pitched eight innings to pick up his first win of the season. Freshman JosephJohannes(Va.Beach, VA.-Kempsville HS) pitched the ninth. ODU scored six runs in thefirst three innings.
Brandon Carter (Sacramento, CA.), Justin Gregula (Washington,PA.), and Steven Harris(Va. Beach, VA) eached had three hits on the day. Carter scored three times, whileDana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) knocked in three runs. Gregula and Harris each knockedin two runs.
Senior Joe Moore (Woodbridge, VA.) slammed his first collegiate homerun, a one-outsolo shot to left in the third inning.
The Flames scored a run in the fifth as Jeremiah Boles singled home Peter Eastman.In the seventh, Michael Just singled home Boles. Boles led Liberty with three hits.
ODU completes its western swing of Virginia Wednesday with a 3 p.m. game at Radford.The Monarchs then return home for a three-game CAA series with Hofstra beginning on Friday night, at 7 p.m.
