Gregula's Three RBI's Lifts ODU Past JMU, 8-4

HARRISONBURG, VA-- Sophomore secondbaseman Justin Gregula (Washington, PA.) knocked inthree runs with a triple and homer to lift the Monarchs to an 8-4 Colonial AthleticAssociation win over James Madison Sunday afternoon. ODU has now won four straightgames and five of their last six. ODU is now 19-24 overall and 8-9 in the CAA, whileJMU falls to 26-19 overall and 7-10 in the CAA.

JMU jumped out to a 4-0 lead, scoring three runs in the first on a triple by NateSchill and RBI groundout by Davis Stoneburner. Schill scored again in the third ona bases loaded walk to Matt Bristow.

In the fourth inning, Steven Harris(Va.Beach,VA.) and Derek James(Terre Haute, IN.) had back-to-back one out singles. Bryan Cipolla(Plainview, NY.)singled home Harris and Brandon Carter's (Sacramento, CA.) sacrifice flyplated James.

In the fifth Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) led off with a single and Keith Hahn had a one outsingle. Gregula then doubled home both to tie the game at four. ODU took the leadfor good in the seventh. Arrowood singled, went to second on an error and afterbeing sacrificed to third by Kenneth Gram (Tempe AZ.), scored on a sacrifice bunt by KeithHahn (Valley Stream, NY.). Justin Gregula then hit his first homer of the season to left centerfield, giving ODU a 6-4 lead.

Brandon Carter singled home Derek James in the eighth, and Steven Harris singled homeHahn in the ninth to give ODU the 8-4 lead.

James Burok (Archbald, PA.) came on in the third and threw 4.2 scoreless innings, walking one and striking out four. Donnie Smith (Portsmouth, VA.) who saved yesterday's game for Justin Verlander in the tenth came on in the eighth, walking one and striking out two for his fourthsave of the year.

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Monday at 4 p.m.ODU then travels to Liberty on Tuesday and Radford on Wednesday.
