FAIRFAX, VA. -- Brent Hitz and Mike Puckli scattered five hits and four GeorgeMason hitters had two hits each as the Patriots defeated the Monarchs, 10-2 Sundayafternoon in a CAA series.
ODU tied the game at one in the third as Brandon Carter doubled, then scored onan RBI groundout by Evan Chipman. In the fourth Stephen Harris hit a one-outsolo shot for the Monarchs final run.
Brent Hitz walked only one ODU batter while striking out four to pick up hisfirst win of the season. Jeff Palumbo, Bruce Baldwin, Chris Looze and Matt Cookseyeach had two hits on the day for George Mason who remains unbeaten in the CAA.
The Monarchs return to action on Tuesday when they travel crosstown to take on theNorfolk Tides (NY Mets AAA) in the Bank of the Commonwealth Classic at 7:15 in HarborPark. ODU then plays host to 22nd ranked N.C. State on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. andhosts VCU in a three-game CAA series beginning Friday night.
