NORFOLK, VA-The Old Dominion Monarchs defeated William and Mary, 9-3 behind the pitching of Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) and Ricky Shefka, (Kinston, NC.) and the hitting of Steven Harris (Va. Beach, VA.-Kellam). Harris had three hits and two runs batted in while Monarch pitchers held the Tribe to three runs, fanning nine. ODU wins the series and have now had ten or more hits in six of their last seven games, and have won three of their last four.

Justin Gregula's (Washington, PA.) sacrifice fly plated Harris in the second inning to tie the game. Harris' sacrifice fly in the third scored Keith Hahn to give ODU the lead for good. The Monarchs then scored five runs in the fourth on RBI hits from Evan Chipman (Raleigh, NC.), Keith Hahn (Valley Stream, NY.), and Harris. Brandon Carter (Sacramento, CA.) doubled in two runs that inning. Freshman Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) singled home Derek James (Terre Haute, IN.) in the seventh and James knocked in Carter in the eighth with a sacrifice fly.

Keith Hahn had three hits and scored twice, Bryan Cipolla had two hits andBrandon Carter scored twice along with his two runs batted in.

The Tribe scored in the first as Will Rhymes singled, stole second and came homeon Mike DeCarlo's single. In the fifth W&M picked up two runs as Chris Rahl tripledhome Will Rhymes, then Rahl scored on DeCarlo's groundout.

Dana Arrowood pitched the last five innings to pick up his fourth win of theseason, striking out seven batters. Ricky Shefka making his first start since Feb. 22 against The Citadel struck out two, walked two and allowed one run. ODU (17-24/6-9) breaks for exams before returning to action on May 8 when they begin a three-game CAA series at James Madison.
