#24 N.C. State Defeats ODU, 8-0

NORFOLK, VA-Three Wolfpack pitchers tossed a six-hit shutoutas 24th ranked North Carolina State (21-10) defeated Old Dominion, 8-0Wednesday night. It was N.C. State's second shutout in their last four games.

Gib Hobson got the win, his second of the year, and shared the shutout with Jeffrey Stallings and Jason Duncan. Hobson held ODU hitless until the fourthwhen Steven Harris (Va. Beach, VA.-KellamHS) singled to leftfield with one out.

Lee Mezistrano led N.C. State with three runs batted in. His sacrifice fly plated Matt Camp in the first. He then doubled home Camp in the second and his groundout scored Jonathan Diaz in the fourth. Matt Camp led the Wolfpack with three runs scored and three hits, while Eric Taylor and Jake Muyco each had two hits on the evening.

Keith Hahn (Valley Stream, NY.) led ODU with two hits. After N.C. State scored seven runs in the first four innings, ODU pitchers James Greene (Poquoson, VA.Poquoson HS), Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.)and Donnie Smith (Portsouth, VA.-Norcom HS) pitched four straight scoreless innings until the Wolfpack added their eighth run in the ninth.

N.C. State travels to The University of Maryland for a three-game ACCseries beginning on Friday. ODU hosts Virginia Commonwealth in a three-gameCAA series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m.
