NORFOLK, VA-Towson University pounded out 17 hits and four pitchers limited Old Dominion to six hits in a 13-3 Colonial Athletic Association victory for the Tigers. TU is now 8-11 overall, 1-1 in the CAA, while ODU is 11-12 and 1-1 in the CAA.
Joe Peeler picked up his fourth win of the season for Towson, scattering fivehits, with one walk and two strikeouts in six innings of work . Luke Thomas, Steve Swiech and Sam Mills pitched the last three innings. Three Tigers, Brian McKenna, Shane Justis and Adam Heffron had three hits each, while Mark Chiccini and Heffron each knocked in three runs. Heffron's three-run homer keyed TU's five-run sixth inning. The 13 runs and 17 hits were the most this season for Towson.
Eric Mesa(Miami, FL.) slammed his first home of the season with Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) aboard to give ODU two runs in the third. In the sixth Derek James (Terre Haute, IN.) singled home Keith Hahn (Valley Stream, NY) for the third run. The two teams play the third and final game of the series Sunday at 2 p.m.
