Monarch Women's Swimmers 8th, Men's 9th After First Day of Maryland Invite

RICHMOND, VA -Freshman Old Dominion swimmer Lauren Timby (Rochester, NY) was named the women's Colonial Athletic Association Performer of the Week based on her performance at the Davidson Quad meet in Davidson, NC on Jan. 23-24. This marks the second consecutive week a Lady Monarch has won the award, after senior diver Michelle Kenney (Richmond, VA) won the award last week.

At the Davidson Quads, Timby engineered three individual first place finishes and participated in Old Dominion's winning 400-yard medley relay team, as the Lady Monarchs posted a 1-2 record against CAA competition. ODU out-distanced William & Mary (195-154) and dropped decisions to Davidson (195-157) and UNC-Wilmington (191-155).

Timby collected wins in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:08.66), 200-yard freestyle (1:56.33) and 500-yard freestyle (5:04.27). Timby's 400-yard medley relay team swam to a first-place finish in a time of 4:01.00.
