Monarchs Win Seventh Straight With 81-60 Win Over JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Alex Loughton had 26 points and eight rebounds onWednesday night to lead Old Dominion to an 81-60 win over James Madison. The win wasthe Monarchs seventh straight.

Arnaud Dahi, who had 14 points, made a dunk and a layup during a 9-2 runthat gave the Monarchs (9-4, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association) a 54-41 leadwith 14:27 left. The last time ODU won seven straight was at the beginning of the1996-97 season, which was also the last time ODU started 4-0 in the CAA.

The Dukes (3-10, 0-5) never got closer than nine again. JMU was held to just 23points in the second half, shooting 9-30 from the floor (.300), while ODU shot .571(16-28). ODU outrebounded the Dukes, 40-27.

John Waller added 18 points for Old Dominion, making 4 of 6 from 3-pointterritory. Old Dominion converted 8 of 15 3-point shots in all and shot 54percent overall.

It was also a very happy 45th birthday for head coach Blaine Taylor.

Dwayne Broyles scored 19 points and Ray Barbosa and Chris Cathlin eachscored 13.

ODU returns to action on Saturday night when they play at Delaware. Gametime is7:30 p.m. in Newark.
