CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. -- Anna Rogers (New Bloomfield, PA.) scored two goalsand Angie Loy (Loysville, PA.) assisted on two goals to lead seventh ranked Old Dominion toa 4-1 victory over 12th ranked Virginia Sunday afternoon. The Lady Monarchs are now 6-4on the season.
Freshman Katie Claxton(Va. Beach, Va.) put ODU on the board first with 16:03 leftin the first half an assist from Loy. Rogers, who scored two goals yesterday in ODU's 5-0 victory over James Madison then pumped in two straight goals within 30 seconds of eachother to give ODU a 3-0 halftime lead. Rogers also assisted on a goal. Sophomore Janelle Engle (Mt. Joy, PA.) added The Lady Monarchs fourth and final goal in the second half.
Virginia's lone goal came with five minutes left in the match as Katie Phillips scoredon the penalty corner. ODU outshot Virgina, 13-11. Lady Monarch goalkeeper Tina Walker(Suffolk, VA.) came up with eight saves on the day. Old Dominion returns to action nextFriday in Hempstead, NY when they travel to Hofstra in a CAA contest
