Men's Basketball Falls To South Alabama, 62-49

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Chris Young scored 13 points and Henry Williams added 12to lead South Alabama to a 62-49 victory over Old Dominion Monday night in thesecond round of the Coors Classic. It was the Monarchs lowest scoring output of theseason.

Williams made two 3-pointers and hit 3 of 4 free throws, while Williams hit6 of 11 from the field for the Jaguars (3-3).

Arnaud Dahi scored the only double figures for Old Dominion (2-4), adding 10points. Sophomore Alex Loughton scored only nine points but led ODU with13 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The Monarchs briefly enjoyed a 1-point advantage late in the first halfafter Dahi's layup made it 22-21. Williams answered with a layup followed by3-pointers by Young and Shane Spencer, giving the Jaguars a 32-25 lead athalftime.

Old Dominion dominated the boards 40-33, but South Alabama outscored theMonarchs 30-24 in the second half, gaining 11 points off turnovers. With thescore, 44-42 in favor of USA, the Jaguars went on a 10-4 run to take command ofthe contest. ODU's Alex Loughton was named to the All-Classic squad.

ODU returns to action on Thursday when they host Liberty at 7 p.m., thehost Geeorge Washington on Saturday at 7 p.m.
