NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion swimming and diving team swept both the men's and the women's meets Friday night in their home opener, defeating the College of Charleston. The men's team won 152-91 and the women's team won 144-83. With the wins, both the men's and women's teams improve to 2-2 on the year. Overall, ODU won 19 of the 26 events, with the women taking 11 and the men eight. On the women's side, freshman Lauren Timby (Rochester, NY) led the way, taking the 1000 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle. Samantha Combs (Travelers Rest, SC), Jessica Miller (Fairfax, VA) and Michelle Kenney (Richmond, VA) won two events each.
On the men's side, Michael DeNise (Midlothian, VA) led the team with three event wins, taking the 1000 yard freestyle, 400 yard Individual Medley and the 200 yard butterfly. Tommy Dingus (Falls Church, VA) and Brian Julich (Sanford, NC) won two events each for the men. ODU swimming and diving returns to action Saturday, November 8, against Towson. The meet starts at 1:00 PM.
