COLLEGE PARK, MD-Jason Garey's first half goal and Clarence Goodson's second half goal lifted the #2 seed University of Maryland to a 2-1 victory of the Monarchs Wednesday evening in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Ludwig Field. Maryland is now 18-2-1, ODU completes another outstanding season at 15-4-1.senior Ryan Sniegowski (Boxborough, MA.) scored ODU's goal. This was the Monarchs second straight trip to the NCAA second round.

The Terps scored first as Jason Garey got feeds from Abe Thompson andSumed Ibrahim in the 32nd minute. The goal - Garey's team high 11th of the season.Maryland took a 2-0 lead in the second half with just under 15 minutes remaining inthe match as Clarence Goodson scored on an assist from Nino Marcantonio.

The Monarchs lone goal came with one second remaining in regulation asRyan Sniegoski scored his first goal of the year and his third of his career past MarylandKeeper Noah Palmer, who finished with five saves.

Monarch senior keeper Sam Cameron (Raleigh, NC.) completed his career withsix saves on the night. He finished the season with a 0.70 (11th nationally ) goals against average and an .844 saves percentage.

Senior forward Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) had four shots on goal inthe match. He completes his career as the most prolific scorer in ODU history with 56 career goals, 22 career assists for 134 points.

The Monarchs, won their first 14 matches and ranked as high as second nationallyfor four straight weeks before injuries to defensive standouts Ian Kaila (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, VA.). McEachron was the CAA DefensivePlayer of the Year and earned National Player of the Week honors this season.

Head Coach Alan Dawson completes his 16th season as a collegiate head coachwith a record of 202-77-19 (73-47-9 at ODU). He was the CAA Coach of The Yearfor the third time since 1999.
