DURHAM, NC-Angie Loy (Loysville, PA.) scored two first half goals to lead the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion University to a 4-2 victory over the University of Richmond in the first round of the NCAA Championships. The Lady Monarchs (14-9) will meet second seeded Duke (15-2) Sunday at 2 p.m. Duke beat American, 3-1 in the other first round game.
The Lady Monarchs took a 2-0 first half lead on goals from Loy. Richmond cut it to ,2-1 on a goal by Amanda Florio early in the second half. Freshman Darcy Pinchbeck(Suffolk, VA.) made it 3-1 with an assist from Chilly Banuelos (Escondido, CA). TheLady Monarchs final goal came with a little more than nine minutes left as Chilly Banuelos scored on an assist from Melissa Leonetti (Erdenheim, PA.). Old Dominion outshot Richmond, 7-2 .
ODU and Duke played each other back on Sept. 21 with Duke winning, 3-2 inDurham.
