HARRISONBURG, VA - James Madison University used two second-half goals to defeat the #2 Old Dominion men's soccer team Friday night, 3-2. Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) scored in the first half for the Monarchs, while Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) scored in the second half. ODU falls to 14-1 overall and 6-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. JMU improves to 8-6-2 and 2-3-3 in the CAA.
Brian Cvilikas scored the first goal of the game, 41 minutes into the first half, off an Attila Vendegh assist. Right before the half, JMU's Rob Overton scored off a Kurt Morsink assist to even up the match. Overton connected on his second goal of the night in the 49th minute of play off an assist by Danny Sheridan and Denny Fulk to give JMU a 2-1 lead. Mark Totten added a third goal for the Dukes, off a Chris Naquin assist to give JMU a 3-1 advantage. Vendegh scored with less than three minutes to play to come within one goal of JMU.
Goalkeeper Sam Cameron (Raleigh, NC) saved four shots and allowed three goals during the game, while JMU's Kevin Trapp saved four shots and allowed two goals. ODU was out-shot 18-11 for the game. The Monarchs next travel to George Mason Sunday, November 2, for a 1:00 PM match.
