Norfolk, VA-- Senior forward John Waller (Richmond, VA) scored 25 points, sophomore forward Alex Loughton (Perth, Australia) scored 19 points, and sophomore guard Isaiah Hunter (Charlotte, NC) added 17 points to pace their respective teams in the annual Blue-White scrimmage Saturday afternoon in the Constant Convocation Center. The Blue squad won the game, 81-58. Freshman forward Valdas Vasylius (Klaipeda, Lithuania) also added 16 points and led all players with five assists.
Waller shot 10-15 for the game, including 5-6 from three-point land to lead all scorers for the contest. Freshman center Arnaud Dahi (Ivory Coast, Africa) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds for the game while providing a pair of spectacular dunks.
"He's going to be big," Waller said about Dahi. "He brings a lot of energy and excitement on to our team. Whether he starts of comes off the bench, he will help us out a lot."
The 139 combined points is 42 more points in last year's 53-44 Blue-White scrimmage. Head coach Blaine Taylor added about his offense, "We have a lot of kids who can score. Our biggest challenge is how we can defend and how quickly we can learn to defend." The Monarchs return to action on Sunday, November 9 when they host E.A. Sports in an exhibition game at 4 p.m.
