HEMPSTEAD, NY - The Old Dominion women's soccer defeated were defeated Monday afternoon by Hofstra, 1-0. ODU falls to 2-8-3 overall with a 1-4-1 Colonial Athletic Association record. Hofstra improves to 12-1-2 with a 5-0-1 CAA record. Elyse Bizzozzaro scored the lone goal of the game for Hofstra, from a Charity Schmitt assist.
Elyse Bizzozzaro scored in the 75 minute mark of the game to break the 0-0 tie. Eleven of the Lady Monarchs' 13 games this season have been decided by a goal or less. For the game, junior goalkeeper Kristen Bailey (Hamilton, VA) saved three shots and allowed one goal. Hofstra's goalkeeper, Rebecca Wachsberger, saved five shots and allowed no goals. ODU was out-shot 17-7 in the game.
Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA), Diane Baucom (Virginia Beach, VA) and Bea Gugliotti (Avon, CT) each had two shots for the game. Shibaughn Stevens (Penfield, NY) had one shot. The Lady Monarchs next play against UNC-Wilmington Friday, October 24, at 4:00 PM at home, and then return to action at home Sunday, October 26, against Virginia Commonwealth at 1:00 PM.
