PHILADELPHIA, PA - The second-ranked Old Dominion men's soccer team remains undefeated, defeating Drexel 4-1 Friday afternoon. Kevin McMenamin (West Springfield, MA) led the Monarch effort with two goals during the game. Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, VA) and Bamidele Oluwalana (Oslo, Norway) each scored a pair of goals in the effort. ODU improves to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Drexel falls to 5-8-1 overall.
After a scoreless first half, Bamidele Oluwalana scored the first Monarch goal, off a Kevon Harris (Kingston, Jamaica) assist, nearly 53 minutes into the game. Trevor McEachron scored next less than seven minutes later to give ODU a 2-0 lead. In the final 10 minutes of the game, Kevin McMenamin scored two goals to put the Monarchs up 4-0. A late goal by Drexel's Ryan Caldwell at the 87 minute mark took away the shut-out for ODU.
For the game, senior goalkeeper Sam Cameron (Raleigh, NC) made five saves and allowed one goal. Drexel's Joe Hartman made four saves and allowed four goals. ODU out-shot Drexel 20-14 and had seven penalty corners compared to Drexel's six. ODU next plays at Hofstra Saturday, October 18, at 7:30 PM.
