BALTIMORE, MD - The Old Dominion women's soccer team were defeated 2-1 by the University of Maryland at Baltimore County Wednesday afternoon. Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA) scored the lone goal for the Lady Monarchs 65 minutes into the game. Beeman now has six goals on the season to lead the team. Both teams were scoreless in first half until Amanda DiCarlo scored two goals in less than a minute.

The Lady Monarchs drop to 1-7-3 on the year, with a 0-3-1 Colonial Athletic Association record. Nine of ODU's 11 games this season have been decided by a goal or less. UMBC improves to 5-5. For the game, ODU was out-shot 14 to 6. The Lady Monarchs had five penalty corners to UMBC's two. Junior Goalkeeper Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) made three saves and allowed two goals. UMBC's Robin Babaris made two saves and allowed one goal.

The Lady Monarchs next play at Drexel, in a CAA match-up, Saturday, October 18 at 1:00 PM.
