NORFOLK, VA -- The Old Dominion field hockey team swept up the Colonial Athletic Association weekly awards on Monday with senior midfielder Angie Loy (Loysville, PA) earning her second CAA Player of the Week honor and Rachel Daubert (Harrisburg, PA) earning Rookie of the Week honors.
Loy added to her league-leading point total last week collecting seven points in two Lady Monarchs' victories. Loy was one of nine different goal scorers in ODU's 11-0 victory over Towson on Friday. The senior added a goal and three assists in the Lady Monarchs' thrilling 6-5 overtime win over #11 Delaware on Sunday. Loy found CAA Rookie of the Week Rachel Daubert in the first extra session for the game-winning assist that extended ODU's CAA winning streak to 58 games. Loy now has 39 points on the season and is averaging a CAA-best 2.79 points per game.
Daubert knocked in the game-winning goal with 12.9 seconds remaining in the first overtime period in the Lady Monarchs' 6-5 overtime win over #11 Delaware on Sunday. Daubert's goal stretched Old Dominion's winning streak to six games and extended its CAA win streak to 58 games. In the Lady Monarchs' 11-0 win over Towson on Friday, Daubert scored two goals, the first two of her collegiate career, and was one of nine different Lady Monarchs to score in the game.
The Lady Monarch field hockey team will look to extend its current six-game win streak and avenge an earlier loss to the Maryland when they take on the Terps in College Park, MD on Saturday. Old Dominion will then travel to Princeton to face the Tigers on Sunday. Both games begin at noon.
