ABOUT THE OPPONENT:
Hofstra: The Pride opened the season on a hot streak, winning their first eightgames of the season before watching their streak come to and end last week witha 1-0 loss to Quinnipiac. The Pridecurrently have the best overall winning percentage in the conference at a .889mark and boast a 6-0 home record. Additionally, the Pride have outscored their opponents, 19-8. The Lady Monarchs will represent not onlyHofstra's first CAA opponent of the year, but their first ranked opponent aswell. Sophomore midfielder AlexandraAlonge leads her team with five goals, an assist, and 11 points, while rookieforward Kara McEneaney checks in as the team's second leading scorer with ninepoints on four goals and an assist. Innet, freshman netminder Jessica Cowperthwait holds a .805 save percentage and a.880 goals against average ranking first in both categories in the CAA and fourthnationally in goals against.

Drexel: The Dragons will host William & Mary in their CAA opener onFriday before hosting Old Dominion in their second conference match of theseason. The Dragons are at a 4-5 markhaving defeated West Chester 1-0 in double overtime. So far, Drexel has played three overtime games with two extrasession victories. Their lone overtimesetback was a 1-2 loss to Virginia, a team that is ranked 15th inthis week's STX/NFHCA Poll. Sophomoreforward Elizabeth Sidel leads Drexel with three goals and six points. Senior forward Caliann Bogovic, who scoredthe Dragon's lone goal in last year's 8-1 loss to ODU, checks in as the team's secondleading scorer with two goals, an assists, and five points. In net, junior Katie Dougherty has helpedthe Dragons to two shutouts posting a 1.85 goals against average and a .727save percentage.

OPENING DAY:
TheLady Monarchs will be the CAA opener for three of their league rivals thisseason. ODU blanked William & Maryin both squad's CAA opener, 3-0, on September 13th. The Lady Monarchs then gave James Madison a 5-0loss on September 27th in the Dukes' conference opener. This weekend, the Hofstra Pride welcome theLady Monarchs to their campus for their first CAA game of the 2003 season.

BREAKTHROUGH:
Freshman forward Anna Rogers had notched just onegoal in her first eight appearances of the season, but then ignited for nine pointslast weekend in helping the Lady Monarchs to wins over James Madison and #12Virginia. She tallied two goals in bothgames, including the game-winner against the Dukes, and also added in an assistagainst the Cavaliers. With herperformance, Rogers moved up to third in scoring on the Lady Monarchs' statsheet. Rogers also became the first LadyMonarchs this season to have back-to-back multiple scoring games.

LENDING A HAND:
Senior midfielder had a hand in five of ODU's ninegoals last weekend and now needs just five more assists to crack ODU's top 10list. Loy had three assists in the LadyMonarchs' 5-0 shutout over James Madison, a single-game high for a CAA playerin 2003.

CAA STREAK:
The Lady Monarchs have not lost a CAA contest since a1-2 loss to James Madison in the championship game of the 1995 CAATournament. Since then, Old Dominionhas won 40 regular season games and 14 CAA Tournament games for a grand totalof 54 consecutive conference wins.

Loy helped lead the Lady Monarchs to a pair of win overnationally ranked opponents, which included a 3-0 shutout in the CAA openingwin over William & Mary and a 4-2 victory over #10 Connecticut. Loy totaledthree goals and two assists on the week. She had a hand in all three of theLady Monarchs goals against the Tribe, scoring two and assisting on the other.Defensively, Loy helped Old Dominion to their first shutout of the 2003 season.Again the 10th-ranked Huskies, Loy registered a goal and assist.

Anna Rogers (September 26th):
Rogers piled up nine points on the weekend on four goalsand two assists on two games. Shetallied two goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist in leading OldDominion to its 4-1 victory over the 12th ranked Virginia Cavaliersand also scored a pair of goals in the Lady Monarchs' second shutout win of theyear, a 5-0 win over the James Madison Dukes. In eight games before theweekend, Rogers had just one goal on the season.
