NORFOLK, VA (Sept. 7, 2003) - The Old Dominion Women's Soccer team (1-2-0) defeated Tulane University (2-2-0) Sunday to earn their first victory of the young season at the N.C. State Summit Hospitality Invitational. The Green Wave came into the tournament undefeated, but also lost Friday night against the hosts, N.C. State.
Tracy Donachie (South Lanarkshire, Scotland) chipped in the winning goal 34:57 into the game. She was assisted by Kim Snyder (Virginia Beach, VA). Lady Monarch goalkeeper Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) earned her first shutout of the season, making one save.
ODU out-shot Tulane 17 to 6 for the game. The Lady Monarchs were narrowly defeated Friday by 23rd ranked Villanova. Miller came up with five saves in the effort.
The Lady Monarchs next take on Tulsa Friday, Sept. 12, at 4:30 PM (CST) in the University of Arkansas tournament.
