OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Old Dominion University rising sophomore AnnaTunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH.) placed second at the U.S. Singlehanded Sailing Championships at the Oklahoma City Boat Club. Tunnicliffe was the only female in the 17-person event. She was also awarded the Peter Barrett Sportsmanship Trophy.

Tunnicliffe, the reigning Women's Singlehanded Collegiate Champion which shewon in November of 2002 finished the event with 32 points, just ten behind Andrew Campbellwho has now qualified for the US Olympic Trials in the laser class. In seven races, she garneredone second, a third and two fourth place finishes.

The Peter Barrett Sportsmanship Trophy is given in honor of Peter Barrett, the firstwinner of the U.S. Singlehanded Championship in 1962 and winner of two Olympic medals,and for his love of the sport of sailboat racing, unique spirit of competition, fair play and honesty.
