CHARLOTTE, NC -Brad Lamm and Adam Floyd each knocked in threeruns as the 49ers of Charlotte defeated the Monarchs, 10-2 Tuesday afternoon. ODUpitchers fanned 13 Charlotte batters. ODU is 5-9, Charlotte is 5-7.
The Monarchs took an early 2-0 lead. Brandon Le Noir (Ocala, FL.)singled home EvanChipman (Raleigh, NC.) in the first inning. In the second, Chipman singled home freshman Justin Gregula (Washington, PA.). The Monarchs got 10 hits, but left eight on base and hit into three double plays.
Lamm knocked in a run in the third , seventh and eighth innings while Floydcleared the bases with a double in the 49ers four-run seventh inning.
Despite taking the loss, freshman Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) fannedfive in four-plus innings. Kevin Evans (Shamong, NJ.) fanned three and Donnie Smith(Portsmouth, VA.), fanned five in just two innings. ODU and Charlotte will a single game on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
