NORFOLK, VA. -- The Old Dominion University men's basketball squad willstart the 2002-03 season with the annual blue-white scrimmage on Saturday, at 3:30p.m. in the new Ted Constant Convocation Center.
All 14 member of this year's Monarch squad will be on display. Heading the listof players are the forward tandem of Ricardo Marsh (Mebane, NC.) and Rasheed Wright(Greensboro, NC.). Marsh earned second team All-CAA honors last season as he averaged15.3 points and 7.2 rebounds. He ranked second in the CAA in field goal percentage.Wright averaged 14.1 points per game last year and ranked fourth in the CAA in freethrow perentage at (.815).
Five newcomers will be making their Big Blue debut. Isaiah Hunter (Charlotte, NC.),A 6-2 guard; John Morris (Camp Hill, PA.), a 6-1 guard; Alex Loughton (Perth Australia),a 6-9 forward and Janko Mrksic (Ontario, Canada), a 6-10 center. Also joining the Monarchsis sophomore walk-on Cole Pugh (Philadelphia, PA.), a 6-3 guard.
CAGE NOTES: The second annual Hampton Roads Hoop Summit is scheduledfor Saturday morning, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. in the Athletic Administration Building. Speakersfor the day will include: Monarch head coach Blaine Taylor, assistant coach Jim Corrigan,former William and Mary head coach Charlie Woollum and Maury head coach Jack Baker... ...prior to the men's game, the Lady Monarch's will have an open practice from 10:a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Constant Center....Members of the ODU Big Blue Club who have purchased men'sand women's basketball season tickets may pick up their season ticket and hospitality packagesat the Blig Blue/Hospitality room in the Constant Center from 10 a.m. through the men'sscrimmage game...Those packages not picked up on Saturday will be mailed to members onMonday, Oct. 28th.
