Cahana Fall At Cissie Leary Invite Semi-Finals

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Junior Old Dominion women's tennis player Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Balik, Israel) fell in the semifinal round of the Cissie Leary Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Cahana dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to eventual champion, Julie Smokodub of Tulane.

Senior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) and freshman Coralie Herrmann (Porrentruy, Sweden) returned to play in the consolation brackets. Sotiriu fell to Seva Iwinaki of Texas A&M, 6-2, 6-7 (8), 6-4, but rebounded to win her next two matches. She defeated Danielle Lee of Texas A&M, 6-3, 6-2, and Jacki Leskovar of Ohio State, 9-5. Herrmann dropped a 6-2, 7-5 match to Michelle Yeh of UPenn, but went on to defeat Kim Barfuss of Seton Hall, 6-5, ret. Herrmann then fell 8-7 to Lindsay Bryan of Ohio State.

The women's tennis team will return to action at the ITA All-American Championship next weekend.
