NORFOLK, VA. -Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, Pa.) knocked in a career high eight runs on four hits, including his second career grand slam as Old Dominion University (17-18) defeated Liberty University(18-16-1), 29-14. The 29 runs is a single game season high for ODU, and a single game opponent record for Liberty.

Sollenberger singled in Ryan Harvey (Riverside, CA.) in the second inning, he then doubled Jared Musolf (Lakehurst, NJ.), Ryan Harvey and Jess Schoendienst (Belcamp, MD.) to give ODU the lead for good in the fourth at 8-7. Sollenberger then capped it off with a grand slam in the Monarchs 15-run seventh. He was a perfect 4-for-4 along with a walk on the night. Sollenberger's other grand slam was against Virginia during the 2000 season.

Ryan Harvey knocked in five runs, including a three-run shot in the seventhinning. Kevin Snapp (Yorba Linda, CA.) and Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) each knocked in four runs and hit homeruns on the evening for the Monarchs who tallied 20 hits.

Liberty was led by Kelly Knouse with five runs batted in on four hits. Knousedoubled in Joey Monahan and Larry Wayne York in the second, then doubled home York and Keith Butler in the fourth which gave the Flames a 7-5 lead going into the bottom of the fourth.Knouse then pitched the last inning-plus, holding ODU scoreless in the eighth. York added three runs batted in for Liberty.

The combination of 43 runs by ODU and Liberty is a new school record, breaking the old markof 39 set in 1989 at Virginia Tech, when the Hokies won, 20-19. The 15 runs in the seventh inningthe second highest output in that inning for ODU, the highest was 18 against George Masonin 1985.

The Monarchs return to action on Friday evening at 7 p.m.in Williamsburg tobegin a three-CAA game against William and Mary. Liberty hosts VCU Wednesdayat 3 p.m.
