#16 Women's Lacrosse Wins Second Straight

NORFOLK, VA -- Sophomore Suzanne Wosczyna (Phoenixville, PA) scored the Lady Monarchs' first goal of the afternoon just 1:50 into the contest as Old Dominion never looked back in a 12-6 victory over UMBC this afternoon on Foreman Field. Wosczyna finished the day with six goals and seven points and collected 13 points in back-to-back victories for Old Dominion this weekend.

Old Dominion raced out to a 4-0 advantage in the opening stanza before the Retrievers finally got onto the scoreboard. UMBC's Loree Miller broke the scoring drought just over 18 minutes into the contest on one of her two goals. The Lady Monarchs entered the half up 5-3.

Danielle Hensil (Havertown, PA) closed out the day with two goals and an assist, including her tally and eventual game-winner at the 26:42 mark of the second half, giving ODU a 7-3 lead. The Retreivers netted just three goals in the second half, as the Lady Monarchs outscored UMBC 6-3 to win their second straight and improve to 3-1 on the season.

Senior Jennifer Heister (Fayetteville, NY) added two goals, while Marlaine Smith (Gaithersburg, MD) and Janine Rodriguez (Davidsonville, MD) each registered a tally as well. UMBC was led by Miller and Stephanie Allen with two. In net, sophomore Beth O'Leary recorded 11 saves, while UMBC keeper Stringer made 15 in net for the Retrievers.

The Lady Monarchs, in the midst of a five-game homestand, return to action on Wednesday in another CAA match featuring James Madison. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
