Greensboro, NC-The Old Dominion men's soccer squad fell to UNC-Greensboro on the road last evening, 2-1 in double overtime. Old Dominion is now 0-1 on the season, while UNCG is 1-0.
After UNCG took a 1-0 lead midway through the second half, sophomore forward Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) evened the game with a goal of his own with just over seven minutes remaining. The two teams then battled it out for an additional thirty minutes of overtime, before Greensboro's Alejandro Moreno scored the game-winner with just 20 seconds remaining in sudden death.
The Monarchs held a 23-10 advantage in shots and a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.
Old Dominion will return to action on Friday, September 7, when they take on Northeastern at Hofstra University.
