Washington, D.C.-The Old Dominion women's soccer squad tied American University this evening, 1-1 in double-overtime. The tie moves ODU's record to 3-7-2, while the Eagles are now 6-4-2.
Both teams put their points on the board early, as AU's Katie Moore squeezed a shot into the Lady Monarch goal at the 7:40 mark. Old Dominion's Emily Becker (Va. Beach, VA) tied the game in the fifteenth minute with an assist from Jen Henley (Chalfont, PA). Two goals would prove to be all of the offense that would be generated all day, however, and both teams finished regulation and two overtime periods without an additional score.
American held a 18-16 advantage in shots, and a 8-6 edge in corners. Lady Monarch goalie Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD) made nine saves on the day.
ODU will make their final road appearance of the season on Sunday at George Mason. The Lady Monarchs will then close out the regular season at home against St. Francis (PA), Sacred Heart and William & Mary.
