Men's Soccer Blanks Liberty, 4-0

Lynchburg, VA-Old Dominion sophomore Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) and freshman midfielder Kevon Harris (Kingston, Jamaica) combined to lead the Monarchs to a 4-0 victory over Liberty University this evening. Vendegh scored two goals and Harris churned out three assists as ODU improved to 7-4 overall with the win. The Flames fall to 3-7 with the loss.

Sophomore midfielder Chad Denton (Va. Beach, VA) put the Monarchs on the board first in the 38th minute with a one-timer from Harris. Vendegh followed with a score just seconds before the half, and notched the back-breaker midway through the second stanza. Harris assisted on both goals. Senior midfielder Carlos Mendes (Mineola, NY) put in a late goal for the final outcome.

The Monarchs held a 18-13 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in corners. ODU goalie Chad Calderone (Rockville Centre, NY) turned away nine shots in preserving the shutout.

Vendegh now has 13 goals and five assists for the Monarchs, who have won seven of their last eight games. Old Dominion will return to action this weekend, when they host CAA foe Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday evening.
