Norfolk, VA-The Old Dominion coed and women's teams are off to a good start in their inaugural regattas of the 2001 season.
Led by All-American Sally Barkow, the women currently claim three of the top five spots in the singlehanded BYO laser radial. Barkow is holding second place to SMC's Ali Sharp.
The Monarchs are in fifth place at the Riley Cup behind Georgetown, Navy, St. Mary's and Washington College. Sailing for ODU are the teams of Jack Kerr and Rachel Wright along with Bill Berg and Liz Bower. Both teams are currently fifth in A and B divisions.
Competition in both regattas will wrap up tomorrow.
