Northeastern Edges Monarchs, 3-2

HEMPSTEAD, NY - Chris Beston's goal with 18:22 remaining lifted theHuskies of Northeastern to a 3-2 come-from behind victory over Old DominionUniversity Friday night in the first round of the Hofstra Umbro Invitational, despitetwo goals from the Monarchs Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia).

The Monarchs are now 0-2, while Northeastern is 3-0. Old Dominion twice tookone-goal leads in the second half, but the Huskies answered each time. SophomoreAttila Vendegh opened scoring on an assist from freshman Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, Va.). After Chris Beston tied the match two minutes later, Vendegh,last year's CAA Rookie of the Year and Freshman All-American scored again. Northeastern's Anders Hoyem scored two minutes after that to tie the match. Beston's second goal came on an assist from Peter Starnas.

Old Dominion plays host Hofstra Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
