GREENVILLE, NC.:-- The Old Dominion University women's soccer teamand East Carolina fought to a draw Saturday afternoon. Before the match, both coachesagreed to a modified format of two 30-minute periods followed by two 15-minuteovertime periods.
Old Dominion scored in the first half as freshman Jamie Varela (Va. Beach, Va.)scored on an assist from Bea Gugliotti (Avon, CT.). East Carolina tied the matchin the first overtime period on a goal by Joy Clark with an assist from Debbie Green.
The Lady Monarchs open their regular season next Sunday, Sept 2 when theyhost Radford at 1 p.m.
