Monarchs Defeat Radford, 9-1

NORFOLK, VA.-- Sophomore righthander Ryan Williams (Va. Beach, Va.)pitched seven scoreless innings to lead Old Dominion University to a 9-1 non-conference victory over the Highlanders of Radford University. ODU is now 19-32,while Radford is 12-29.

Williams, a graduate of Kellam High School allowed only three hits, walked twoand fanned five for his third win of the season in his first collegiate start. JonathanTinkham (Chesapeake, Va.) pitched the last two innings.

Senior second baseman Ross Robertson (Chesapeake, Va.) led the Monarchs with three rbi's thanks to a three-run double in the seventh inning. Freshman MattMoye (Beaver Falls, Pa.) doubled in two runs in the eighth inning. Jared Musolf(Lakehurst, NJ.), and Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) each had two hits on the day.

Radford got on the scoreboard in the eighth. Bobby Ryan singled home MikeDawley. Dawley led the Highlanders with two hits on the day.

The Monarchs host William and Mary in the final regular season CAA seriesbeginning Thursday night at 7 p.m. That game can be heard live on ESPN1310radio.
