Norfolk, Va. -- 15th-ranked Old Dominion University topped #7 BostonUniversity, 8-5, Sunday afternoon at Foreman Field on the OldDominion campus. With the win in this annual lacrosse scholarshipgame, the Lady Monarchs improve to 8-5 overall (3-3 CAA). TheTerriers fall to 6-4 overall (2-0 America East).
Old Dominion found itself down 1-0 within the first two minutesof the game but then rallied off the next three goals for the 3-1lead halfway through the first half. Junior Jen Heister(Fayetteville, NY) led the surge with three first-half scores. TheLady Monarchs would give up four more to the Terriers, but would nettwo more of their own and hold a slim 6-5 lead at halftime. OldDominion added two insurance goals in the second half to seal thevictory.
Heister finished with a game-leading four goals while sophomoreSuzanne Wosczyna (Phoenixville, Pa.) added two goals and an assist.Sophomore Danielle Hensil (Havertown, Pa.) chipped in with two goalswhile senior goaltender Laurie Koller (Collegeville, Pa.) collected12 saves and shut out Boston University in the second half.
Junior midfielder Kristin Abruzzese (Medford, NJ) led the way forthe Terriers with a hat trick.
