NORFOLK, Va.-- Junior thirdbaseman Jeff Eure (Pillow, Pa.) hitback-to-back two runhome runs as Old Dominion defeated tenth ranked Clemson Wednesday night atthe BudMetheny Baseball Complex. The Monarchs are now 9-15, while Clemson is 15-6 and saw its five-game winstreak come to an end.
With Clemson leading 3-0 in the second, Eure belted his first of thenight over the leftcetern fieldfence with Mark Michael (Gibbstown, NJ.) aboard.
Clemson took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the third, but Eure thentied the game at fivewith another two-run shot, scoring John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.). TheMonarchs exploded forsix runs that inning. Matt Moye (Beaver Falls, Pa. ) tripled, then scoredthe lead run on a double byRyan Dunn (Bristol, Va.). Joe Moore (Woodbridge, Va.) singled home Dunn.Ross Robertson(Chesapeake, Va.) also scored on a wild pitch.
Jonathan Tinkham (Chesapeake, Va.) picked up the win in relief andsophomore KevinEvans (Shamong, NJ.) picked up his second save of the year. Evans fannedthree in twoinnings of work.
Clemson was led by Casey Stone with three hits and a run batted in.Jarrod Schmidt andSeth Miller each knocked in two runs each. Khalil Greene hit a solo homerin the fourth forClemson.
Old Dominion outhit the Tigers, 13-10 as five Monarchs had two hitseach. Old Dominiontravels to Fairfax, Va. for a three-game CAA series with George Mason,beginning Fridayat 2:30 p.m.
