NORFOLK, Va. -- Pace University scored all four of its runs in the first two innings to defeat Old Dominion University Monday afternoon, 4-2. The Setters, located in Pleasantville, NY., are 3-1, while ODU drops to 5-13, ending a two-game win streak.
Marc Deluca's groundout plated Steve Martino in the first inning. In the second inning, Doug Hehner singled home Shelby Langford, Justin Kealy's groundout scored Langford, and Hehner scored on a Monarch error.
ODU's two runs came in the fifth inning. Allen Strick's (Glen Burnie, Md.) sacrifice fly scored David Vilardi (Fishkill, NY.) and Matt Moye (Beaver Falls, Pa.) later scored on a wild pitch.
Righthander Matt McDonough pitched seven innings, scattering five hits to pick up the win for Pace University.
Old Dominion returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Duke at 3 p.m. Pace travels to the University of Richmond on Tuesday.
