Old Dominion Wraps Up 2001 CAA Swimming Championships

Fairfax, VA -- The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming & diving teamswrapped up the 2001 CAA Championships over the weekend. The womenfinished in third place while the men took fourth. James Madison wonboth championships - the third in a row for the men and the fifth overallfor the women.

Although the Monarchs didnt bring home the championships, they foundindividual success in numerous events. Sophomore Ashley Kirchner(Arlington, VA) swept both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events, andJamie DAgostino (Ardsley, NY) took first place in the 500 free and 1650free. Sophomore Kara Fichthorn (Landsdowne, PA) was named the WomensOutstanding Performer after picking up victories in the 200 butterfly,200 IM and 400 IM. Her 400 IM time set a CAA meet record and met theNCAA "B" qualifying standard.
