WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Old Dominion's Andre McCullum(Whiteville, NC.) scored 10of hisgame-high 18 points in the second half as the hot-shooting Monarchstopped AU, 84-57. 13 of the 14 Monarchs scored and eight hit atleast onethree-pointer. After a 1-7 start of the season, the Monarchs are 10-5.Overall,ODU is now 11-12 and 6-4 in the CAA.

Old Dominion also got 16 points from Ricardo Marsh (Mebane, NC.),11 from Heath Burris (Va.Beach, Va.), and ten points from Rasheed Wright(Greensboro, NC.). ODU hit 12-18 from three-point range(.667) andoutrebounded the Eagles, 31-24. Senior Clifton Jones, the CAA's leadingrebounded hauled in another ten rebounds.

After shooting 56 percent from the floor inthe first half, the Monarchs did not let up in the second half, making16 of 28 (57.1 percent) attempts from the field. AU shot 60 percent (12of 20) from the floor in the second half but could not overcome ODU'sstrong play. With 3:40 to play, the Monarchs built their largest lead ofthe game, a 36-point margin at 80-44.

the .667 shooting from three-point range was the best since the .708(17-24)shooting against James Madison back on Feb. 17, 1993.

AU's Ronald Hearns recieved a technical and was ejected after analtercationwith the Monarchs Heath Burris.

With AU trailing by nine with 4:16 remaining in the first half, theMonarchs went on a 15-5 run to close the period with a 41-22 lead. Marshled all scorers in the first half with 14 points. The victory put Monarchheadcoach Jeff Capel just one win shy of 200 for collegiate his career.

The Monarchs hit the road again for the second leg of a four straightCAA road swing on Saturday night when they play UNC Wilmington.Gametime is 7 p.m. at UNCW's Trask Coliseum.
