NORFOLK, VA (Dec. 6, 2000) -- The Old Dominion men's soccer team had two selections tothe 2000 VaSID All-State Teams this afternoon. The awards are compiledfrom voting by the sports information directors at every major universityin Virginia.
Junior midfielder Carlos Mendes (Mineola, NY) is making his debut onthe All-State first team after winning a second team spot in '99. Mendestallied four goals and six assists this season and was named to the All-CAAfirst team for the second year in a row.
Freshman forward Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) earned secondteam honors after leading the CAA in scoring with 15 goals and 3 assistsfor 33 points. Vendegh finished the season as the third highest scoringfreshman in the country, fourth in South Atlantic Regional scoring, and wastied for 16th nationally in goals per game. Vendegh was also a first teamAll-CAA selection and was named the Rookie of the Year by the conference.
