Fairfax, VA (Dec. 4) -- The Old Dominion men's swimming & diving team dominated virtually every event en route to a victory at the inaugural George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, VA. Old Dominion's men took first out nine competing teams while the women's team finished tied for seventh out of thirteen.
Monarch swimmers John Wall (Hoover, AL), Mark Giusto (Va. Beach, VA) and Eric Mitchell (Armonk, NY) were just some of the individuals who had an outstanding meet. The Monarch men took first or second place in almost every race to finish with a score of 655, more than 100 points ahead of second place Shippensburg (541.50).
On the women's side, diver Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) took first place in the 3 meter dive and had a second place finish in the 1 meter dive to pace the Lady Monarchs. Also having solid showings during the meet were Jamie D'Agostino (Ardsley, NY) and Kara Fichthorn (Landsdowne, PA), who registered numerous top ten finishes.
